CHANGING FACE OF HIGH-RISE

As design fraternity is reaching for the skies and high-rise structures are gaining popularity, the Indian skyline has undergone a drastic transformation. With conspicuous technological evolution, designers these days seem to compete to design extra-terrestrial built forms with the object of fulfilling the users’ aspirations.

From traditional construction methods to contemporary monoliths, Indian high-rise builds have come a long way. Urbanisation lead these Indigenous dwellings to vary from temporary huts with thatched roofs to enormous vertical edifices made from slabs of sandstone. There has been a really slow yet perceptible shift from the use of traditional masonry to ultra- modern material palette and the industry has become much more than just glass, wood and concrete.

The new-age designers have been pushing their limits to combine both the appearance and functional attributes of a building system. To achieve these attributes and provide a snug habitat to people, designers offer better lighting modules and natural lighting, ventilation techniques, planning, design scheme, green balconies, rooftop gardens and are in line with increasing adaption of green and sustainable building practices. It is also prime for a designer to determine the functional regime of a structure 10 years ahead of time and cater to the requirements of the patronage then. It should deliver equitably to the future personage.

As architects from around the world have been taking an interest in outdoor spaces to extend living areas, infusing greenery and enlivening otherwise ordinary structures; we also have designed numerous high-rise structures on same lines, Tirupati Vasantam being one. This forward-thinking structure located in Dhanori, Pune is a massive stalwart in the future of high-rise construction. Serving as an apartment building, the structure poses for indomitable ambiance through its massive height. Each flat decked up in shades of clouded grey and pure white, opens onto an extraordinarily innovative form of balconies and roof. The splashes of green sprinkled on the site add to the sense of vitality and vibrancy. The luxurious facilities provided as a part of the design impart an impeccable aura to the entire set-up.

Architecture today often boasts dynamic lighting that can absolutely alter physical appearance. Lighting technology has expanded the architectural design palette. Like in our project Anvaya in Matunga, Mumbai, lighting technology used turns the façade into an interface that is endlessly adaptable and responsive. The project delves into an individual sense of enormity and volume. Devised in a simplistic approach, this structure is bound to pose for its iconic ambiance and subtle play of the colour palette. The grandiose that the structure imposes is a delight to the eye.

Development is inevitable: Buildings have always been used to display cultural psyche, norms and values since ages. It is the designer’s responsibility to fabricate structures which gain the trust of the society and fraternity by maintaining the homogeny of the prevailing high-rise architecture in India.
